The City of San Jose’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services has partnered with San Jose Jazz to bring the downtown community and jazzy tunes and chill vibes with a series of SJ Jazz Boom Box Performances and rotating free and family-friendly activities. This Friday’s activities will include: Music Entertainment Zen Den Pop-Up Life-Sized Dart Board Cornhole Tournament Croquet Games Food Trucks Café Dining Area Lamzac Seating For other It’s Happening!   2. Coyote Creek Clean-Up Day Scheduled

    July 22, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Kelley Park

    The Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (HHPZ) and Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful are sponsoring a Coyote Creek Cleanup Day at Kelley Park on Saturday, July 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The February floods left enormous amounts of debris and trash in Coyote Creek. PRNS, HHPZ and Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful invite you to join our community cleanup. Be sure to wear long pants, long-sleeves, and closed-toed shoes as you will be near poison oak and around loose or muddy soil. All ages are welcome to join this volunteer event. Volunteers under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult and volunteers under age 18 must have a signed waiver (available upon completed registration). Community service hours are available upon request. Advanced registration is encouraged at KCCB.Eventbrite.com (group registration is also available through this website). Kelley Park is located at 1300 Senter Road, San Jose, CA 95112.

  7. Unveiling of Backesto Park Tennis Courts Sign Honor Coach Don Johnson.

    July 29, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Backesto Park

    The celebration of life recognizes a beloved coach and Sports Hall Fame inductee, Coach Johnson. Johnson taught thousands of San José children in the Almaden Strings, Backesto Backhanders, Glen Oaks Racketeers, and the Los Paseos Lobsters programs. After the unveiling, the Northern California Section of the United States Tennis Association will provide tennis activities.
