    Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services is now accepting applications for the 2017 Safe Summer Initiative Grant (SSIG) - The Safe Summer Initiative offers grants to non-profit organizations, governmental entities, and faith-based organizations that provide safe programs and activities that encourage healthy play and nurture positive relationships. Emphasis is placed on services benefiting youth in Hot Spot areas (locations identified as experiencing the most gang activity and youth violence). Applicants must primarily serve San José youth. Applications will only be accepted online through WebGrants and are due by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017.     Spring into Fun with PRNS! – The Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) encourages all residents to “Spring into fun!” this season by registering for a leisure class offered at community centers and parks located throughout San José. Whether you’re interested in starting a new hobby, refining an interest, or setting out on an adventure the whole family will enjoy, PRNS has hundreds of opportunities to choose from. You can also get a jumpstart on setting your summer plans by register for exciting, enriching and inclusive summer camps.   4. All-Access Sports Tournaments Coming Soon

    Want to join in the fun? Come out to the Bascom Community Center to show your support for all of our adapted sports at these upcoming competitions: Saturday, December 10, when the second power soccer tournament of the season will be hosted, and February 25–26, 2017, when the first wheelchair basketball tournament will be hosted with other local teams. Tournament schedules will be announced once the teams are finalized. All-Access Sports and Recreation, a program of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services, provides a wide range of programs for individuals of all ages with all ability levels, including those with ambulatory and cognitive disabilities.
