The annual Nihonmachi Fun Run/Walk welcomes people of all ages to participate in the race. Participants will start at the Yu-Ai Senior Center then run/walk through the streets of San Jose Japantown neighborhood and finish at the starting point. After the race, participants are welcome to enjoy the 40th Annual Nikkei Matsuri festival. All proceeds from the Nihonmachi run will support the Yu-Ai Kai Senior Center. Attend the 40th annual Nikkei Matsuri festival to learn about the Japanese American Culture, enjoy cultural performances and music, delightful food, and engage in the arts and crafts fair. Cultural displays, such as ikebana (flower arranging), suiseki (rock displays) bonsai (miniature trees and plants), and kimekomi dolls (handmade dolls based on a wooden form) will be showcased in the San Jose Buddhist Church Annex.
