The SJ DIGI (Discover, Ignite, Grow, Inspire) program powered by Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS), hosted the second annual Young Creators Youth Symposium, sponsored by Silicon Valley Creates, on Thursday, March 9th. Viet Mac, of Mac House Productions, kicked off the event with a message encouraging youth to do what makes them happy and create with whatever tools they have. The symposium, held in the auditorium of the Mexican Heritage Plaza, welcomed 180 students from several high schools, including, Santa Teresa, Mt. Pleasant, Andrew Hill, and Boynton. The event offered workshops from MAC House Productions, Red Wall Studios, Giana Flores (Air BNB Video Producer), and Grammy Nominated Producer Mike Zombie. The students engaged in an interactive silk screening by Reyes Muertos Clothing, Beat Production by SJ DIGI, Illustration by Steven Quintero, Foothill College Music Production, and CRE8TV Film/Broadcasting. The day concluded with a panel discussion, whose members included: Viet Mac, Mike Zombie, Sean Bryson of Universal Audio, Kimmy Taylor, KBLX on-air host, Shiva Diva of 90.5 KSJS, Andree Kang of Sony PlayStation, and Jennel Flores, UX Designer for Adobe.
