Throughout the City of San José, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) community centers and parks have started their summer programming. With 10 community center hub locations and 6 park locations, PRNS is spreading a culture of community and fun everywhere with their summer camps. This week, several locations kicked off their first week of eight weeks of summer camp, and this summer, several PRNS sites are partnering with the City’s Library Department to bring the Summer Reading Challenge to their summer camps. During this past week, memories were made that will last a lifetime. The Berryessa Community Center hosted a “Music Day” with their campers, which provided them with the opportunity to participate in breakdancing, hula, and hip hop, and the Camden Community Center took teen campers on several adventurous field trips in their Teen Breakaway Program. Keep your eyes open as PRNS continues to celebrate its SJ Summer of Fun! For more information, please contact Neil Rufino, PRNS Acting Deputy Director, at 408-535-3576.
