Earth Day Volunteer Event at Kelley Park

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services’ Volunteer Management Unit hosted 130 volunteers at Kelley Park on April 14 to coincide with Earth Day 2019. Volunteers added new trees and plants to the Japanese Friendship Garden and removed invasive plants from the Kelley Park amphitheater. Volunteers also trimmed ivy, picked up trash and cleared graffiti. The value of this volunteer work is over $9,000. Most importantly, volunteers generously gave quality time and energy to promote quality public spaces in their communities.
