CENTRAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR (1516)

CLASS PURPOSE

Under direction, performs work of moderate difficulty in the supervision of the Central Services Section of the Purchasing Division including: the stores accounting, auditing and billing functions; printing services; the mail room; and the City recycling, record retention, surplus equipment, and auction programs. Performs related work as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

Typical End Results Include:

Utilization of all possible equipment. Disposal of surplus equipment at best price for the City. Effective inventory control system that ensures accurate record of inventory, issuances, receipts, expenditures and department billings. Effective recycle program that ensures all recyclable materials are collected and City collects best price for recycled products.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a single position class that reports to the City Purchasing Manager and responsible for Central Services. If differs from the classification of Warehouse Supervisor in that the latter supervises the receipt, storage, issuance and inventory control functions of a major warehouse.

Training And Experience

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of undergraduate coursework from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience in the supervision of a large warehousing facility including issuance, receipt, storage, and distribution and inventory control of a wide-variety of commodities.

License/Certificates

Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in California.
