ANALYST I (C) (PT) (1630)

CLASS PURPOSE

Under general supervision, is responsible for professional level analytic work of moderate difficulty in areas such as budget preparation, review and analysis; generalized staff analysis; organization and methods analysis; or personnel analysis. Performs related work as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESULTS (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the beginning level general analytic class, where expertise is gathered in a specific field in order to progress into the more specialized class of Analyst II. Initially, supervision and training are given in detail, but as an incumbent becomes more capable, he/she works with a higher degree of independence. This class differs from that of Analyst II in that incumbents of the latter perform, under direction, analytic work of considerable difficulty. This class differs from that of Staff Technician in that the duties of the latter are in more generalized areas of public administration rather than being specialized assignments with primary emphasis on analysis of budget, organization and methods, personnel, or related analytic fields requiring continuing application of technical methods in the specific field. An incumbent of the class of Staff Technician acts as executor for an assistant department head, department head, or other administrator in effecting departmental operations.
