International City/County Management Association’s Annual Conference 2010 - October 17-20, 2010

ICMA 2010Invitation from the Host Committee Chair

San José City Manager Debra Figone would like to invite you to attend the 2010 International City/County Management Association’s (ICMA) Annual Conference coming to San José.

ICMA is the premier local government leadership and management organization, and its mission is to create excellence in local governance by advocating and developing the professional management of local government worldwide.  It supports nearly 9,000 members serving nearly 185 million people in thousands of communities, through training and professional development, publications, information sharing, and technical assistance.  The Annual Conference is expected to draw more than 3,000 national and international local government leaders to San José.  Attendees come from virtually every state and more than 20 nations, providing a tremendous opportunity to connect with local government leaders with worldwide impact.  San José and other Silicon Valley local government leaders will be hosting the 2010 Annual Conference October 17-20, 2010.

Many of you may know San José as the capital of Silicon Valley—a world class destination that has earned its reputation because of its history of innovation, from its agricultural roots, through the scientific and defense industries, the dot com bubble and burst, and now an international leader in the bioscience industry and at the national forefront of green technology movement.  All of this and you’ll find San José has truly redefined quality of life by blending dynamic work and business opportunities with leisure, arts, and entertainment that is second to none.

The local Conference Host Committee is working with ICMA to present an unforgettable conference experience in San Jose, bringing together our region’s history, family-friendly attractions, good food, great shopping, and of course an outstanding line-up of topics, programs and speakers that will invigorate our thinking. We look forward to making the conference a rewarding experience for all and I hope you will help by attending the conference, volunteering, or just spreading the word of this event and the importance of professional management to the growth and success of our community.

Hope to see you in San José, October 17, 2010.
