    Schools/City Collaborative

Since taking office, Mayor Reed has played a leading role in rejuvenating the Schools/City Collaborative. The collaborative brings together the City of San José, the Santa Clara County Office of Education, San José’s 19 school districts and various other stakeholders to address issues that impact San José schools and the community as a whole.

As co-chair of the collaborative, Mayor Reed has helped open a new dialogue and spirit of cooperation between the city and its schools, as well as the various school districts themselves. This has allowed stakeholders to develop sustaining partnerships to better serve our children, families and community.

Currently, the collaborative is focusing its work on three core issue areas:
  • Joint Use Issues / Neighborhood Services
  • School Safety
  • Teacher Retention and Recruitment
