Michael C. Houston, Program Performance Auditor II
Since joining the Auditor’s Office in January 2008, Michael Houston has worked on several reviews of the City’s strategic support programs including the City’s medical benefits and p-cards programs. One of his first projects – An Audit of Retirement Services’ Travel Expenses – was recognized nationally by the Association of Local Government Auditors with the 2008 Knighton Gold Award for “best audit” among large audit shops.
Before joining the Auditor’s Office, Michael was a City of San José Management Fellow for the City Manager’s Office and the City’s Fire, General Services and Housing departments. Michael also has experience with other Bay Area government agencies and nonprofits where he has worked in the areas of housing, land use, and community development.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Sonoma State University and a Master's of Public Policy from U.C. Berkeley.
