  1. 2017 Gira de Libro Library Tour by Bicycle

    May 13, 9:00 AM - 2:45 PM @ Vineland Branch Library

    Registration is now open for SJPL's fourth annual bicycle tour, Gira de Libro Library Tour by Bicycle. The FREE Tour is a guided community and staff bicycle ride that will visit four of SJPL’s branch libraries. Cyclists will meet at the Vineland Branch Library at 9:00 a.m. before departing to the Cambrian Branch, Pearl Avenue Branch, Almaden Branch and returning to Vineland Branch. The route will cover a distance of 15 miles. A light lunch will be provided at the Pearl Avenue Branch Library, and each library stop will include snacks, library tours, and activities.   2. Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month at the Library

    The San José Public Library’s 2nd annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month festival will be held on Saturday, May 13 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Village Square Branch Library. In collaboration with District 7, District 8, Santa Clara County Behavioral Health, and other organizations, the fun-filled afternoon will include, cultural performances, arts & crafts, games, prizes, refreshments, and educational information. Hula and Tahitian dance classes will also be available.

  2. Spring Haiku Reading at Overfelt Gardens Park

    Bay Area Poets Johnnie Hafernik, Christine Horner, Phillip Kennedy and Karina Young will read at 1:00 pm at the Overfelt House, Overfelt Gardens Park, 368 Educational Park Drive, San Jose on Saturday, May 13, 2017. The featured reading will be preceded by a mini-introductory haiku workshop from 10-11, and a park walking tour from 11-12. An open reading will end the event.   1. The Sugar Rush - at Lake Almaden & Los Alamitos Creek Trail

    This is the inaugural Sugar Rush event held in San Jose (same event organizer as The Super Run). It is an untimed, family friendly, 5k run with a Super Hero theme. Participants can dress as their favorite Super Hero. In addition to the run there will be a DJ, face painting, a bounce house, water and fruit along with up to three (3) sponsor charity booths.
