    Every Friday (starting on May 5), the San Pedro Square will transform into a marketplace full of fresh California-grown fruits and vegetables. People of all ages are welcomed to attend.

    August 31, 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM @ Plaza de Cesar Chavez

    Dancers of all abilities are invited to enjoy a complete evening downtown of socializing, music and dancing to a variety of music genres. The events begin each week as food trucks, beer garden and dance floor open at 5:30 p.m. Lessons from professional instructors teaching dance steps for that night’s theme are at 6 p.m. and live music gets underway at 7 p.m. for open dancing.

    August 31, 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM @ Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park

    Every Thursday evening starting on August 24 through October 12, 2017 walk over after work to Plaza de Cesar Chavez for an evening of socializing, music and dancing. With live bands and professional dance instructor to teach the fine points of the evening's dance style, you can tune your skills, learn something new, or just show off. A beer garden and food trucks make the evening complete. What should we do after work? CityDance San José is free and open to the public!

  1. Meeting to discuss San José's Draft Apartment Rent Ordinance and Regulations

    August 31, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ San José City Hall Wing Rooms

    The Housing Department is pleased to announce that the draft Apartment Rent Ordinance (ARO) and Regulations are available for public review and comment. The 30-day comment period will run from August 14, 2017 to September 15, 2017. Over the past two years, the San José community has been engaged in a discussion regarding the Apartment Rent Ordinance and its role within our community. After gathering input from the community and receiving direction from the City Council, a draft ARO is ready for public review. The draft ARO includes language regarding several important issues including: • Annual General Increase • Capital Improvements • Petitions Filed by Tenants and Landlords • Hearing Process The Housing Department is hosting three community meetings (8/24, 8/31 & 9/14) to discuss the draft ARO. Attendance is encouraged to provide feedback on the draft ARO and to understand potential changes for landlords and tenants of rent controlled apartments.

  1. ¡Viva Parks! Community Event

    August 31, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

    ¡Viva Parks! is a series for FREE public events focused on health and wellness resources, physical activities, and community engagement. Weekly activities vary from park to park, but may include: Zumba and fitness boot camps, zorb races and climbing wall, hay wagon (Emma Prusch only), free roller skating (Roosevelt Only), healthy food demos, bounce houses, cultural arts performances, pop-up soccer, skate competitions, community resources, physical fitness.   1. COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND WALK + BIKE WORKSHOP

    August 31, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Cambrian Branch Library

    This community workshop will offer you an opportunity to learn about Vision Zero, and share your input on traffic safety along the Priority Safety Streets in your neighborhood (see highlighted streets on the map shown below). Please join us to share your ideas on improving traffic safety and learn how to make walking, biking, and driving safer for seniors, youth, persons with disabilities, and all other community members. The workshop will be divided into two parts. The first part will cover general traffic safety education and discussion. The second part, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a sample traffic safety Walk + Bike Assessment on Hillsdale Avenue.
