Meeting Set to Discuss Closure of Alum Rock Park Entrance

San Jose, California-- The City of San José will be holding a community meeting to discuss the closure of the Alum Rock Avenue entrance to Alum Rock Park. The meeting will be held on Monday, October 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Hall at the St. John Vianney School of Religion, 4600 Hyland Avenue.

The closure, which occurred on Thursday, September 21, is due to an active landslide that has damaged the roadway so severely, that it is no longer safe for vehicular traffic. City officials will meet with the community Monday evening to discuss the situation further and to address impacts resulting from the closure of the park entrance. Staff from the City’s Public Works, Streets and Traffic, Police, and Convention, Arts and Entertainment departments will be present to discuss the closure, road condition, and the rerouting of traffic onto Penitencia Creek Road. A representative from the Mayor’s Office, and Councilmember Manny Diaz from District 5, will also be present. For further information, the public can call (408) 277-4945.
