City Wins Award for Excellence in Budgeting

San Jose, California-- The City of San José has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its annual budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1999. According to the GFOA, "This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, and its attainment represents a significant achievement by your organization. We sincerely hope that your example will encourage others in their efforts to achieve and maintain excellence in governmental budgeting."

"The City of San José has worked diligently on behalf of its stockholders -- the residents of San José -- to establish a reputation for fiscal responsibility and excellence in service delivery. We are pleased to receive this award and are very proud of the achievement that it represents," acknowledged the City’s Budget Director, Larry Lisenbee. According to Lisenbee, this is the ninth straight year that San José has won the award for excellence in budgeting. Award winners were selected by a panel of independent reviewers on behalf of the GFOA. GFOA is a national organization that encourages quality practices and excellence among government finance professionals.
