Subject:            FIRST AMENDMENT TO LEASE OF AIRPORT PREMISES WITH UNITED AIRLINES

RECOMMENDATION

 

Approval of a first amendment to lease of airport premises with United Airlines Inc. for Terminal C office space, to extend the term for the period August 1, 2001, through November 30, 2007, with projected annual revenue to the City in the amount of $10,000/FY00-01. CEQA: Resolution No. 67380.

 

BACKGROUND

 

On August 1, 1998, the Director of Aviation entered into a lease with United Airlines, Inc. for the rental of office space in Terminal C baggage claim, used for operations support services.  The term of the current lease agreement expires on July 31, 2001.   United Airlines pays $62 per square foot for 124 square feet of office space, which is adjusted annually in accordance to Airport Rates & Charges Resolution, established by City Council Resolution No.59988.

 

ANALYSIS

 

The Director of Aviation executed the Lease of Airport Premises with United Airlines Inc. Municipal Code 25.08 requires Council approval for the renewal of existing lease agreements for a term of more than three (3) years.
