Welcome to the City of San Jose’s Development Center web-site. The Development Center is located at 200 East Santa Clara Street in downtown San Jose.
Our business hours are as follows:
- General office hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Office hours for walk-in customers (i.e. without appointments) for Building and Planning counter services are
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday on a limited basis. Building project intakes may be submitted without appointment from
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Submittal appointments are highly encouraged to ensure service (click here for details)

City Hall Holiday Closure Dates for 2011
At this site you will find information and web-links that will instruct you how to obtain development review services from the City of San Jose. All of the Development Services staff have been co-located into the Development Services Center which occupies the first two floors of City Hall. As the Capital of Silicon Valley, San Jose also offers the most comprehensive array of on-line permit search and application submittal services of any City in the world. You can access these services at http://www.sjpermits.org/permits/permits/.

Enter the parking garage located under City Hall from 6th Street. (Please note maximum vehicle height of 8 feet 2 inches for garage entrance clearance). Pull forward and obtain a parking receipt. After parking, locate the blue "Tower" sign and take the elevator to the 1st floor. Please bring your parking receipt with you. Exit the elevator and proceed to the information desk on the first floor. You will be issued a service ticket from the reception staff. Be sure to have your parking receipt validated when you receive your service ticket.
