City Council Agenda

Read Across America - March 2, 2005

The event, sponsored by the National Education Association, marks Dr. Seuss's 101st Birthday and was celebrated by children in every community across the United States. Located at 6044 Vera Cruz Drive, Guadalupe School invited Councilmember Pyle to be a guest reader.

Prior to entering the classroom, Nancy spoke with Phil Quon, Superintendent of the Union Elementary School District.
Foods and fruits awaited in the break room while "The Cat in the Hat" watched over.
Nancy acknowledged the "Read Across America" classroom escort, who was assigned the duty after being selected by a committee.
Nancy engaged a student in spelling and arithmetic.
Here Nancy read from the "Young Author's Club" part of the week's celebration that engages students in producing their own books - from writing to binding.
