Nancy Pyle to update residents on Coyote Valley Plan at public forum

By Michele Leung

District 10 Councilwoman Nancy Pyle is hosting a community forum to discuss updates on the latest developments of the Coyote Valley Specific Plan.

Laurel Prevetti, deputy director of planning for the city of San Jose, will present the information and answer questions about how the plan might affect residents.

The Coyote Valley Specific Plan is required before any development takes place in the Coyote Valley Urban Reserve. The specific plan addresses issues such as identifying land uses and determining the infrastructure of transportation. The city is expecting 80,000 residents to move into Coyote Valley when it is completely developed.

City planners said Almaden residents are concerned about what impact there might be on Almaden Expressway traffic by Coyote residents who take Bailey Road to McKean and then Almaden, but those answers haven't been determined yet.

Traffic concerns would be addressed in the environmental impact report, which would be issued in 2006, said Salifu Yakubu, principal planner.

The meeting will take place Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Almaden Winery Center located at 5730 Chambertin Drive.
