Community Training Opportunities

AVAILABILITY NOTICE:

Thank you for your interest in our community preparedness programs. At this time, we regret to inform the public that we have postponed all community preparedness courses in calendar year 2015 due to a shortage of instructors and course materials. The City of San Jose Office of Emergency Services (OES) is currently seeking volunteers to teach community preparedness courses. If you are interested in volunteering please contact us at (408) 794-7055.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for volunteers to help train the residents of San José in emergency preparedness. ANYONE over the age of 18 is encouraged to be a part of this exciting team. Bilingual volunteers are also in high demand.

San José Prepared! volunteers help by:    

  • Distributing information on emergency preparedness   
  • Teaching the 20-hours Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course   
  • Teaching the 1- and 2-hour Emergency Preparedness courses in their community
  • Staffing tables at community events and discussing preparedness to attendees
