The City Council approved the ordering of the Cambrian No. 36 annexation on December 7, 2010, and the Council directed that the annexation not be registered with the County for 6 months. During the six month period, the City will be reviewing and considering proposal(s) from the City of Campbell regarding other options. Therefore until further notice, there will be no changes to services such as fire protection, police, and waste collection that typically happen when an area is annexed to the City of San Jose.
The Prezoning (File No. C10-010) and Initiation of the annexation of the Cambrian No. 36 County Island were approved on October 26, 2010.

annexation, zoning districts are designated for the area, which
will become effective upon annexation.

If a building or use was
legally built or operated in the County before annexation but does
not meet the new zoning regulations, it is generally 'grandfathered'
under the old rules and considered 'legal nonconforming'. Any subsequent
changes to the use or structure in this situation are regulated
under the Chapter of the Zoning Ordinance for Nonconforming Uses.
