Participate

The Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan Update process is a community-driven effort to update the City’s General Plan to align with the community’s values, goals and aspirations for San Jose. Whether you live in, work in, or visit San Jose, the City invites your participation.

Task Force Meetings

The City has convened a Task Force composed of residents, business owners, representatives of non-profits and other interested parties to provide input into the preparation of the General Plan Update. The Task Force conducts public meetings each month which include opportunities for community participation. Information on the next Task Force meeting is available at: http://www.sanjoseca.gov/planning/gp_update/taskforce.asp

If you would like to provide written communication to the Task Force for a specific meeting, please submit your comments electronically or in writing to Envision staff in advance of the meeting. To be included in the “packet” materials provided to the Task Force ahead of the meeting, the communication must be received 8 days before the Task Force meeting. Materials submitted by noon of the day of the Task Force meeting will be distributed to the Task Force members and to the public at the meeting. Materials submitted to staff after noon on the day of the Task Force meeting will be provided to the Task Force for the subsequent Task Force meeting.

Community Meetings

Community workshops and meetings are an important part of the Envision Process as they provide an expanded opportunity for participation by the broader community.

Information on past community meetings and workshops can be found on the Background and Task Force/Public Meeting Calendar pages.

Public Hearings

As part of the Envision process, check-ins with the City Council will take place at key milestones.

Information on past City Council meetings can be found on the Background and Task Force/Public Meeting Calendar pages.
