Programs for older (age 50+) citizens are offered at the Camden and Kirk centers. Camden Community Center (3369 Union Ave.) offers exercise, dance, and enrichment classes. The former Kirk school is the site for a weekday lunch program, social clubs and interest groups, adult education classes and other classes, special events, trips, and free services. Kirk is a warm, welcoming environment with a friendly energetic staff! Come visit our office in Room 18.

Homeowners and Renters
Rebate Assistance Program
The Kirk Senior Program in partnership with the RSVP Program will be offering the Homeowners and Renters Rebate Assistance Program on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. in Room 15 from July 2nd to October 15th.
Please call the Kirk Office at 269-0214 or stop by Room 18 to make your appointment. The state of California will refund a portion of the taxes that you paid in 2007 as part of your rent or property taxes, if you qualify. You must reapply for this rebate each year to verify eligibility. Who qualifies?
• Your total household income must be $44,096 or less, including SSA, SSI, etc.
• You must be a US Citizen or legal immigrant and at least 62 years of age, disabled or blind.

Learn about the latest in traffic law and what you can do to refresh your driving skills. Insurance companies usually give a drivers discount for completing this course. Classes are $10.00 per person. Mail-in registration forms are available at the desk in Room 18.
Join Mary Kay and the gang at the Kirk Café for a patriotic celebration lunch in honor of the Fourth of July on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 12:00 noon in Room 17.
Celebrate Independence Day with a patriotic sing along and karaoke fun! If the weather is nice, we’ll celebrate outside. If it is too warm, we’ll have fun in the air conditioned café.
The Independence Day menu will include:
• BBQ Chicken Sandwiches
• Potato Salad
• Coleslaw
• Watermelon
• Apple Pie

Meals are a suggested donation of $2.00 for seniors 60 years of age and older and $5.00 for guests 59 and younger.

We are happy to announce that the MAEP (Metropolitan Adult Education Program) will be hosting summer school classes here at Kirk starting in July.

Kirk Walking Club
Update
The weather is beautiful and it is time to get out of house and get walking! The Kirk Senior Program is joining with AARP and the NRPA to sponsor a ten week walking program here at our beautiful Kirk Park. Our walking group meets on Monday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the Kirk Courtyard. We've extended the program to include Friday mornings as well. Call to put your name on the list if you would like to join us!
