Winter Class Schedule at Camden!

PRNS IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE RE-OPENING OF THE CAMDEN POOL

Through collaboration with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services and Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation, a new agreement has been reached to operate the Camden Community Center Pool beginning October 2011 through spring 2012.  This agreement addresses the gap in aquatic services due to recent budget impacts which would have resulted in the closure of the pool during the winter and spring seasons. LGS Recreation will operate Lap Swim, Swim Lessons, Water Aerobics, Water Yoga and Swim Team programs. The pool will reopen with a family-fun event on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. featuring the premier of a Dive-In Movie entitled “Shark Tale”.  The Camden Community Center pool is located at 3369 Union Avenue San Jose 95124.  For more information, please contact Jessica Revino at LGS Recreation (408) 354-8700 or visit www.lgsrecreation.org.

Senior Programs

San José community centers offer a variety of services to seniors. Please see the senior service list for details and availability.

Senior Nutrition
Lunch is served Monday through Friday at 12:00 p.m. The suggested donation is $2.50 for seniors age 60 and older. Those age 59 and younger are requested to pay $5.00. The menu is listed in the monthly brochure that is available at the center. Call the center to make reservations at least one day in advance but no more than two weeks in advance.

Fitness Center

The fitness center comes complete with cardio bikes, treadmills, and weights. Drop in for a day pass or deeply discounted monthly passes. View fitness center hours and prices for more information.

The center also offers Group X, a series of varying instructor-led group excersie classes. Sign up for Group X and get the whole fitness package! See the latest Group X schedule or contact the center for more details.

Youth Programs

Camden Youth Center

The Camden Youth Center is open to all youth ages 11-17 years old who want a safe and fun place to come and hang out after school and during the summer. We have pool tables, table tennis, foosball, air hockey, board games, Wii, XBOX, XBOX 360, PS2, N64, PS3, Kinect, LCD flat screens, a movie lounge, tournaments, computers and much more! All participants must register with the CYC as a Drop-In member or paid Membership.

R.O.C.K. After School Programs

After School Programs for the elementary grades are provided at two local school sites in the Cambrian area of San Jose. Homework time, arts and crafts, special events, and sports are a few of the activities organized and supervised by City recreation employees. Programs begin immediately after school and end at 5:30 pm.

Many local schools run homework sites, usually after school.
