Volunteers of the Senior Companion Program provide peer friendship and personal assistance to frail, isolated, and homebound seniors. Senior Companions visit clients in private homes and adult day care centers. This is a free service to seniors who live in the City of San José. Senior Companions Help By:
- Providing companionship to frail, isolated older adults.
- Accompanying clients to medical appointments.
- Assisting with simple chores such as preparing a light lunch, watering plants, and reading mail.
To Become a Senior Companion You Must Be:
- 55+ years old.
- Low income.
- A resident of Santa Clara County.
Benefits of Becoming a Senior Companion Include:
- An hourly stipend of $2.65.
- A daily meal allowance.
- Transportation reimbursement.
- The opportunity to help a senior and family in need.
