The City of San José has 24 departments and, including our part-time staff, over 8,000 employees working in all kinds of fields on various interesting projects.
The City of San José hosts approximately 150 student interns annually, from majors that include finance, graphic design, information technology, accounting, urban planning, political science, public administration, and many others. Students interns may be at the undergraduate or graduate degree level.
Interns at the City have flexible hours to work around their school schedules. Undergrad interns generally work between 20-30 hours per week and Grad interns work between 25-40 hours per week.Current data shows that about two thirds of the students are paid for their City internships; one-third work for college credit only.
The City has two citywide internship recruitments annually with openings in various departments, which will be posted on CityJobs.
