On June 22, 2010, the San Jose City Council approved the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan Update for Sidewalks. The council memo supporting that action, followed by the Plan itself, can be viewed here http://www.sanjoseca.gov/clerk/Agenda/20100622/20100622_0232.pdf The project has involved outreach and public input, including public meetings with the City of San Jose Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee as well as the City of San Jose Disability Advisory Commission.
This plan addresses public rights of way such as crosswalks, signals and sidewalks. For citywide information on other ADA issues, go to http://www.sanjoseca.gov/ADA/DisabilityPrograms.asp
In 2008, the City of San José’s Department of Transportation completed a Pedestrian Master Plan. This plan is intended as a basic overview of pedestrian issues in San José, not as an exhaustive description of existing or planned conditions in any specific neighborhood. The plan may be reviewed here "San Jose Pedestrian Master Plan"
