Purpose:
Transportation Operations effectively provides for
the safe and efficient flow of traffic and pedestrians.
Parking Services is a comprehensive program that operates and maintains the City's public parking facilities and on-street parking meters, analyzes requests for residential permit parking, and strives to improve compliance with posted parking regulations. Parking Services also oversees the collection of fines from parking citations and the administrative review process for contested citations.

Optimize Arterial Traffic
Flow
This service optimizes traffic flow during routine conditions, events,
and incidents to ensure safe and reasonable speeds, and provides transportation
permits.
Promote
Traffic Safety
This service provides bicycle and pedestrian safety education, analysis
of school walking routes, crash data analysis radar message board deployment
and the City's
Annual Transportation Report.
Install
Traffic Improvements
This service analyzes and makes improvements to the transportation network
by responding to customer concerns, reviewing plans and traffic conditions,
installing traffic control devices, and making pedestrian and traffic
safety improvements.
Parking
Manage Off-Street Parking
This service operates and maintains all City-owned and operated off-street parking facilities.
Manage On-Street Parking
This service maintains and collects revenue from parking meters Citywide, and responds to requests for residential permit parking. The service also analyzes parking policies and regulations in Downtown San Jose and in various Neighborhood Business Districts to ensure the best use of parking resources.
Manage Parking Compliance
This service enforces parking regulations Citywide, assists with improving the safe flow of traffic at schools, and manages the collection of parking citation fines and the administrative review process for parking citations.
