Caring for Your Street Tree and the Community Forest

 
 

MD11: Old Oakland - Brokaw

 

Description

md11This Maintenance District area is inclusive of a combined total of 40,000 square feet of groundcover, shrubs and trees. Two ornamental water fountains are strategically located on Brokaw Road near Ridder Road. They operate during peak traffic hours in an effort to enhance the ride and provide a calming affect on commuters using this travel route. The specific areas include:
• Median islands from 1000 feet east of Old Oakland Road to 30 feet west of Junction Avenue and the pork chop islands at Old Oakland Road and Brokaw. Median islands from 300 feet south to 600 feet north of Brokaw Road.

Tree Services

The street trees in this district include Raywood ash (Fraxinus angustifolia oxycarpa ‘Raywood’) and sycamore (Platanus acerifolia) trees. Maintenance responsibilities of this MD include:
• Pruning, planting and removal/replacement
• Pest control applications and report on type and quantity of materials applied including target pest and descriptions(s)
• Fertilization of plant material
• Staking and guying of trees – monitoring, replacing, repairing or removing
