Caring for Your Street Tree and the Community Forest

MD 22: Hellyer - Silver Creek Valley

MD22Description

MD 22 consists predominantly of commercial properties and undeveloped open space.  The secluded community is nestled against the foothills of San José.  The maintenance area is inclusive of the median islands on Hellyer Avenue from Highway 101 to Silver Creek Valley Road and the median islands on Silver Creek Valley Road from Hellyer to Piercy Road.  During the hot, dry summer months, the neatly manicured, smartly landscaped median islands pass through the adjacent seasonal grasslands like an artery of life, providing a stark and beautiful contrast.

Tree Services

Tree management services are provided for all of the trees in the median islands described above.  Tree species in these islands vary to include coastal live oak (Quercus agrifolia), valley oak (Quercus lobata), Southern live oak (Quercus virginiana), Chinese pistache (Pistacia chinensis) and eucalyptus (Eucalyptus maculata).  These services include:
• Trimming and pruning of trees, shrubs and ground cover
• Pest control applications and report on type and quantity of materials applied including target pest and description(s)
• Fertilization of plant material
• Staking and guying of trees – monitoring, replacing, repairing or removing
