Updates on City of San José Services and/or Operations
- Bascom Community Center: The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department has been informed that a volunteer at the Battle of Bay Power Soccer event that took place at Bascom Community Center on Saturday, March 7 has since tested positive for COVID-19. The volunteer was asymptomatic on March 7. The City has engaged the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department and continues to follow the County’s guidance for preventing the spread of COVID-19. The City has ordered a deep cleaning of Bascom Community Center.
- San José Fire Department: The San José Fire Department continues to track and support its members who are sick from, or have been exposed to COVID-19. As of this update, 10 sworn personnel have tested positive and 57 who may have been exposed are being monitored. The City will continue to provide updates to these numbers. The Fire Department’s first responders continue to use enhanced personal protective equipment (PPE) in the form of masks, gloves, goggles, and gowns. Community members we make contact with should not be alarmed when seeing this PPE in use, as it is intended to avoid potential exposures to the public and our members. The Fire Department is maintaining normal resource levels.
