One Day One Action
One Day One Action is a socially engaged public art project that reframes how we can all contribute to climate action, one day at a time, now and into the future. Through a collaborative process, hundreds of social media prompts have been developed in support of San José’s Climate Smart sustainability goals. Content has been designed to cultivate environmental awareness, inspire sustainable practices, and highlight traditional knowledge. Recognizing that San José is the 10th largest city in the United States, and one of the most diverse, this will be a multilingual campaign, in Spanish, Vietnamese, and English.
For climate action to translate into impactful change, we each need to make at least one simple yet meaningful action every day. Storytelling, the heart of One Day One Action, will compel people to engage and share their actions collectively moving us toward a more environmentally conscious way of life.
Join One Day/One Action to share your ideas, perspectives and experiences!

Background:
The Climate Smart San José Plan, adopted by the City Council in 2018, lays out how the City, and its citizens, will do our part to address climate change. It is a community wide initiative to reduce greenhouse gas production and air pollution, save water, and improve quality of life. The plan calls for every resident and business in San José to adopt climate smart practices, and cultivate habits in support of environmental stewardship. Climate Smart aims to reach carbon neutrality across the city by 2030.
Exploring the potential of a partnership between the City of San José's Public Art Program and Environmental Service Department, artists Trena Noval and Sue Mark were consulted as thought- partners to brainstorm creative ideas. Designed by Mark and Noval, One Day One Action creative media campaign, launched in June, 2023, is the outcome of this collaboration.
