The Permit Center on the 7th Floor of City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residential Parking Permits (RPPs) are no longer being processed at City Hall.  Visit the Residential Permit Parking (RPP) webpage for more information and to apply for a permit.

1. Tow-Away and Transportation permit applications can be sent as attachments via email to dotpermits@sanjoseca.gov.

2. Processing time may vary depending on the complexity of the permit, missing or inaccurate information, if further information is required, and/or the volume of permit requests. Please allow up to two business days or more for the processing of Transportation Permits.

3. If submitting a Tow-Away Permit application, it is strongly recommended that applications are sent at least two weeks or more in advance, to help guarantee permit issuance in time for your start date. Please take extra care to include correct dates, meter information, the number of signs requested, and the phone number of your payment contact. Missing or inaccurate information may cause a delay in the processing time.

4. Once your application is approved, DOT staff will call your payment contact to process payment over the phone and will arrange a pick-up appointment for the Tow-Away signs. If paying via check or cash, payments can be made in person at City Hall 1st floor Cashier Desk.

5. Tow-Away signs may be picked up at the 7th floor of City Hall with a pre-arranged appointment.

Important note regarding enforcement (5/24/22): Tow-support is currently only available Monday through Friday and based off staff availability.
