Instructions for Users with Visual Disabilities

Our website has been designed to be used with a screen reader. In addition, most images on our site are accompanied by a word image tag that may be visible if your browser supports the alt-text function.

We have many documents posted in PDF format (Portable Document Format). These documents can be read aloud to you using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. Download the free Acrobat Reader. Once the PDF page is opened in Adobe Reader, select the View menu, then Read Out Loud, then either Read This Page Only or Read To End of Document.

If a web page has an online form that is not accessible, please call the phone number or email the office listed for assistance in obtaining the form or filling it out.

Instructions for Users who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

The City of San José website Disability Access Design Standard requires that all audio and video clips have text transcriptions or descriptions with a closed-captioned (CC) hyperlink. All meetings and most original content is currently captioned with captions available on Granicus and YouTube for streaming.
