R.O.C.K. Afterschool Program
The R.O.C.K. (Recreation of City Kids) Afterschool Program offers a safe and nurturing environment, homework assistance, enrichments, recreation and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities.
Program Information
R.O.C.K. Afterschool is available Monday - Friday on school campuses and City of San Jose facilities from the time school is dismissed until 6 p.m., except school holidays, breaks, and in-service days. Each program follows the academic calendar of its corresponding school district.
R.O.C.K. Afterschool is a license-exempt program.
Registration Information
Online at SJRegistration.com for participating locations, or in person at your local Community Center. Registration will not be accepted at any school campus offices. Participants must attend the school where the R.O.C.K. Afterschool program is located.
Payment Options
The 2024-2025 academic R.O.C.K. Afterschool program costs San José residents $2,907 for the entire academic year, with monthly and quarterly payment plans available. Program costs $323 per month for San José residents. A 10-Visit Punch Pass option is available at select locations. Please contact your local community center for more information.
Scholarship Information

Afterschool Education and Safety (A.S.E.S.) Afterschool Program
The Afterschool Education and Safety (A.S.E.S.) program is a state-funded program that provides a safe and nurturing environment, homework assistance, enrichments, recreation and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities. This is a free program.
Program Information
The City of San Jose runs one (1) A.S.E.S. program at Summerdale Elementary School, available Monday-Friday from the time school is dismissed until 6 p.m., except school holidays, breaks, and in-service days. The program follows all 180 days of Berryessa Union School District’s academic calendar.
The A.S.E.S. Program at Summerdale Elementary is a license-exempt program.
Registration Information
In person at the Berryessa Community Center. Registration will not be accepted at the Summerdale Elementary office. Participants must attend Summerdale Elementary where the A.S.E.S. program is located. Please contact the Berryessa Community Center for more information.

Starbird Afterschool Program
The Starbird Afterschool Program offers a safe and supportive environment for youth to participate in healthy recreation and play, enrichment and STEAM activities, arts and crafts, and receive homework assistance. This is a free program. Fees may apply for late pick-ups, field trips, and special events.
Program Information
The Starbird Youth Center is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Wednesday 1:30 p.m. until 6 p.m., except school holidays, breaks, and in-service days that align with the Moreland School District academic calendar. The Starbird Youth Center afterschool program is a license-exempt program.
Registration Information
Registration is accepted in person at the Starbird Youth Center or the Berryessa Community Center.
