Curtner Avenue Safety Project

Project Description

Unfortunately, Curtner Avenue has experienced a high number of fatal and severe injury crashes in recent years. To help reduce, and eventually eliminate, all traffic deaths and serious injuries, the Curtner Avenue Safety Project will help make the street safer for all. This project, which is part of the City’s Vision Zero initiative, includes the following improvements:

  • Pavement resurfacing
  • Narrow travel lane width
  • Travel lane reallocation for bus-only lane to increase reliability and travel time
  • High-visibility crosswalks
  • Protected bike lanes with green pavement markings and added vertical posts (where possible)
  • Radar speed signs to alert drivers to slow down
  • Traffic signal head yellow border to improve signal visibility
  • Signal head upgrades
