The San José Fire Department along with Vice Mayor Chappie Jones (District 1) will be hosting an Open House at Fire Station 14 located at 1201 San Thomas Aquino Road on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The public is invited to come see one of the newest fire engines to be added to the fleet serving the District 1 community. This brand new, state-of-the art engine features a 500-gallon water tank and is capable of discharging 1500 gallons per minute when connected to a fire hydrant. An Advanced Life Support Fire Engine, it is equipped with the same supplies found in an ambulance, providing crews the resources of an EMS unit as they respond to emergency calls.
While attending the Open House, visitors are invited to:
- Tour the fire station
- Meet your local fire fighters
- Take part in a hands-on fire hose experience for the children
- Learn hands-only CPR
According to the American Heart Association, four out of five cardiac arrests happen at home. This means that if called on to administer CPR in an emergency, the life you save is likely to be someone at home: a child, a spouse, a parent or a friend. Join us to learn this potentially life-saving technique.
