Southside Community Center is hosting an event to officially open their upgraded computer lab! This latest addition, comprising of 16 new computers/monitors, was made possible with $30,000 in funds, advocated for by District 2 Councilmember Sergio Jimenez. The computer lab was established as part of the City's and PRNS' efforts to address the "digital divide," a divide that indicates 95,000 San José residents who lack access to broadband. With this new lab, residents will gain greater access to the internet and will get the chance to improve digital literacy through age-friendly classes. The ribbon cutting event will start off with the keynote speaker, Councilmember Jimenez, then the lab will be officially opened. After the ribbon cutting, attendees will participate in tours and a tutorial to experience the lab hands-on. Refreshments will also be provided. It is the perfect opportunity to learn what this new lab offers for you and your family.
