Live Citizen Science in the Bay Area with Metrav Vonshak

Join Dr. Merav Vonshak in the for Birdy Hour Speaker Series: Citizen Science in the Bay Area

Dr. Merav Vonshak is a citizen science organizer, leading public BioBlitz events in the South Bay where people join together to learn about their local environment while documenting its diversity.

She is organizing events and leading hikes and workshops in collaboration with many organizations, such as Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful, Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society, Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority, Saved By Nature, and others.

She also teaches natural history at San José State University and contributes to various citizen science projects. Merav founded the BioBlitz.club, a home for citizen science events in the South Bay, where people can learn about future activities and download free material, such as bird and flower guides. She has a BA in Biology, MSc in Ecology, and a Ph.D. in Zoology.

This talk will be around 40 minutes with additional time for questions & answers. Recommended for all ages.
