The Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services will be providing recommended activities to do within the comfort of your home through the Virtual Recreation Center.

Wonder Wednesday Activities

As the world changes at an unprecedented pace, take some time to look at the world differently, and learn in a world that looks different. Here's some recommended activities:

LIVE Hatha Yoga Class with Terre

Wednesday, 6/24 at 5 p.m. 

Join City Instructor Terre for a live Hatha Yoga class at 5 p.m. via Zoom.

Pepper and Soap Experiment

Join Preschool Instructor, Claudia from the Roosevelt Community Center and create your own pepper and soap experiment. This experiment shows how germs can be removed from your hands with soap. Remember to wash your hands and stay safe.


Supplies:

  • White plate
  • Dish Soap
  • Pepper
  • Water

Process:

  1. Pour water onto plate
  2. Sprinkle some pepper onto the surface of the water
  3. Dip your finger into the dish soap
  4. Place your finger in the center of the plate of water
  5. Watch as the pepper quickly scatters to the edges of the plate
Horton Hears a Who! Park Ranger Reading
The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services invites you to gather around for story time. Park Ranger Martinson joins us to read a Dr. Seuss classic: Horton Hears A Who! Listen carefully as Park Ranger Martinson reads the story of Horton the Elephant.
 Paper Plate Weaving and String Art

DIY Kids Craft Paper Plate Weaving and String Art! Have fun with the kids in your life and make fun and easy DIY String art projects together with a simple paper plate, tapestry needle and some yarn. Perfectionism not required. Have fun with it! Kids will LOVE it!
