Meeting Purpose: To describe the proposed project, the environmental review and planning process, and obtain community input on the project and issues to be discussed in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) analysis. This Community / EIR Public Scoping Meeting will be held in compliance with the City’s Public Outreach Policy (6-30) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), as amended. Public input on the scope of the EIR is encouraged so that the review addresses all relevant environmental issues. Comments, concerns, and questions raised at this meeting will become part of the public record and will help inform the project’s design as it moves forward in the review process. There are continued opportunities throughout the permit process to publicly comment on the project as illustrated in the permit process chart below.
Proposed project: Rezoning (File No. PDC19-049) from the Commercial General and Commercial Pedestrian Zoning Districts to a Planned Development Zoning District to facilitate two project options: 1) 1,741 residential units of which 194 are residential dormitories, an approximately 415,407-square foot educational facility, and 66,665 square feet of commercial space; 2) Up to 1,110 residential units and 127,500 square feet of commercial space, and a Planned Development Permit (File No. PD20-006) to allow the demolition of 126,345 square feet of existing buildings and the removal of 121 ordinance-sized trees for the construction of 741 residential units, 415,407 square feet for an educational facility, 66,665 square feet of commercial, a backup generator, the off-sale of alcohol, and hours of construction beyond 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday on an approximately 10.6-gross acre site.
