ALVISO HISTORIC CONTEXT AND SURVEY PROJECT, at Alviso Branch Library, Community Room, File No. PP22-008

Project Description (File No PP22-008): The Alviso Historic Context and Survey project is documenting Alviso’s culture and history through the identification of buildings, objects, features, places, and landscapes associated with the various communities that historically lived and worked in the town, primarily from the mid-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth centuries.

The historic context and survey project is proceeding through mid-2023 under the guidance of the City's Historic Preservation Officer as part of the City’s efforts to identify historic resources. With assistance from consultant ESA, staff seek to identify more of the untold stories of the City's history - including places, people, and buildings. We welcome the perspectives and stories of community members who have not traditionally had a voice in expressing the City's history.

Meeting Purpose:  Please join the project team, the City's Historic Preservation Officer and consultant ESA, for an in-person working session to share and discover the history of Alviso. This evening will focus on sharing stories and identifying important moments in the development of the area. There will be a brief presentation at the beginning of the meeting to inform participants of the purpose of the project and the format for the evening. Participants are asked to come prepared to engage with the project team and with each other as part of a facilitated discussion spanning four centuries of history. Feel free to bring photographs, documents, or other mementos to share. Help us record what makes Alviso special and share why this place matters to you!
