VTA and City of San José staff will host two community meetings (May 17 & 18) to share public comments and suggestions gathered last fall on how to improve the Monterey Road Corridor.
Please join us in person May 17 or on Zoom May 18 to see the proposed designs, ask questions, and provide feedback on how to improve transportation along Monterey Road between Blossom Hill and Alma Avenue.
The City is pursuing the Monterey Road Transit Study to improve safety and increase transit speeds along Monterey Road. Monterey Road has a high number of serious injuries and deaths from collisions. Monterey is also one of the highest bus ridership corridors in San José with multiple high frequency bus lines. The Transit Study is doing transportation analysis and conceptual design for bus lanes, protected bicycle lanes, and crosswalk upgrades. These would increase transit speeds and reduce transit travel times, while improving safety for all people using Monterey Road, whichever mode they use.
