This meeting will consist of a presentation and discussion on an affordable housing tenant preferences program proposal. Light refreshments and supervised childcare will be provided. Interpretation in Spanish, Vietnamese, Cantonese, and Mandarin will be available.
Tenant preferences enable residential property owners to apply a portion of their affordable apartments for people who meet certain criteria and are most in need of affordable housing.
The City of San José Housing Department will be hosting community meetings with two goals for Tenant Preferences:
-
Develop a Neighborhood Tenant Preference that is broadly applicable to new and existing restricted affordable apartments and is consistent with Fair Housing laws.
-
Develop a City-wide Anti-Displacement preference for new and existing restricted affordable housing apartments for residents who are at risk of being evicted or displaced.
