Meeting Purpose: To discuss the April 30, 2024 nomination by the San José City Council to designate the Schiele Subdivision and Alameda Park neighborhood as a City Landmark District. The meeting will outline the procedure and timeline for the historic district designation process and will include presentations by San José Planning staff and their historical consultants, who will also receive and respond to questions and comments from the public. Meeting comments will become part of the public record to help inform the Historic Landmarks Commission and Planning Commission, which will provide recommendations on the proposed historic district designation to the San José City Council. Additional public comment opportunities beyond this community meeting will be available throughout the process as illustrated in the “Steps in the Historic District Designation” chart below.
