Two e-scooter sharing companies that currently operate in San José - Lime and Bird - will be leaving the city. In their place, we are pleased to welcome Spin as our new exclusive shared scooter operator. Lime and Bird will formally cease San José operations on September 1, and Lime has already pulled their scooters. Spin will start to deploy scooters on September 1 and will steadily increase the number of scooters available. We want to make sure residents and visitors of San José have minimal disruption in access to the mobility services they’ve come to enjoy and rely on. 

Spin has provided equitable and well-managed services in San Francisco and several other cities across California. Spin is committed to providing a similarly high standard of service in San José. We are excited about the potential for enhancing sustainable transportation in our community. With about 500,000 shared e-scooter rides taken every year in San José, shared e-scooters play a critical role in helping shift toward more eco-friendly transportation.
