Planning Online Permits
We're working to make it possible for you to apply for certain Planning permits and services through SJPermits.org.
Currently, you can apply for a Zoning Verification Letter online at SJPermits — no appointment is needed. See the instructions below.
For all other types of Planning permits and services, or for an appointment for a Zoning Verification letter, go to Planning Applications.
Steps for a zoning verification letter through sjpermits
- Create an SJPermits account. If you don't have an account, please create one. The system will guide you on setting up the account. If you need help, view SJPermits Account Setup Guide.
- Complete the form for your type of letter:
Basic Zoning Letter, including Bingo Use
Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Letter
DMV Letter
Massage Use Letter
Payday Lending Establishment Letter
You will upload the form to SJPermits. The form's "What to Submit" section may list documents, photographs or plans that you need to attach to your online application. Be sure to include any required documentation for staff to deem your application complete.
- Fees. Find the current fee for a Zoning Letter at the Planning Applications table. Staff will review your submittal for completeness and then send you an invoice for fee payment. Your receipt will be in your account at SJPermits.org.
- Finalized application. SJPermits will generate a File Reference Number for your application. You will know your submittal process is complete when you see the Post Submission Instructions as shown in the screen below:
