SJ Access is a City of San José initiative to provide all residents equitable access to all things digital.

Laptop Computers and other Devices

Borrow tech devices from the San José Public Library for FREE, using your library card. To sign up, visit sjpl.org/membership.

Most tech devices can be borrowed for 21 days with one auto renewal of seven days if there are no other requests on the item.

Chromebooks

  • Available at all library locations.  
  • Chromebooks must be used with an internet connection.
  • A cloud-based platform is required to save documents and media files.

Free Public Wi-Fi Access

Free high-speed public Wi-Fi (wifi) is available 24/7 in the following areas:

  • Downtown: Strategic corridors within Downtown San José
  • ESUHSD: Within select East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) attendance areas
  • City Libraries: All library locations
  • Community Centers: At select community centers
