Water Service Application
For projects that need a new or larger water service, a completed Water Service Application must be submitted during the project design phase. Completed forms can be emailed to the Municipal Water System Engineer assigned to the project. If an engineer has not yet been assigned to the project, forms can be emailed to SJMWS.WebInquiries@sanjoseca.gov.
Process
Municipal Water System Engineering staff are available to help you through the process of getting a new water service, and can be reached at (408) 277-3671. You will need to provide information about your project and the water services that you need. You will also need to pay the costs associated with the new water services, including the cost of construction. The Municipal Water System will construct the new water services.
The Municipal Water System will prepare a cost estimate based on the information you provide, which will include construction costs and all applicable fees. You will need to submit a deposit in the amount of the cost estimate. Once the deposit is received, design and construction of the new service will begin. If the actual construction cost of the service is below the estimated cost, the Municipal Water System will refund the difference. If the cost exceeds the estimate, a supplemental bill will be issued and you will need to pay the difference.
If you already have a water service and you only need to set up an account, please call Customer Service at (408) 535-3500.
