A Plan Check is a review of drawings for building remodels or new construction by an engineering professional to confirm proper disposal of wastewater to the sanitary sewer.
When is a Plan Check Required?
Plan Checks may be required to obtain a building permit for remodels or new construction.

Requirements for Food Service Establishments
- Obtain approval and a stamp for your plans from the Santa Clara County Health Department prior to your City Plan Check service.
Requirements for Non-Food Service Establishments
All commercial or industrial sites from which wastewater is discharged to the sanitary sewer, from sources other than standard domestic sanitary facilities (e.g., toilets, bathroom sinks), are required to complete a Non-Food Service Plan Check Questionnaire prior to your Plan Check appointment. Fill out all sections using current operating data or estimates based on similar types of businesses.
